The summons came from Bridgeview Courthouse in Cook County and has arrived at the Obamas’ home in Kenwood neighborhood in Chicago.

Court officials have been informed several weeks ago that the President cannot attend as he would have a full schedule this week. He is to deliver his first State of the Union address on Wednesday, January 27.

He would however, have a reprieve from his busy schedule when he meets the reigning champions of NBA – the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Obama is a 1991 graduate of Harvard Law School. He was also president of its law review. He became a professor at the University of Chicago Law School. He was a US Senator for the state of Illinois before becoming US President.

Apparently, handling the highest position in the land does not exempt one from showing up in jury duty lists.
