Orange Bowl 2010: Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Iowa vs. Georgia Tech Live Stream: The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will square off for the first time in tonight’s FedEx Orange Bowl at Land Shark Stadium.
Georgia Tech won the ACC mainly on the strength of its running game. The Hawkeyes, on the other hand, play excellent defense and are as physically tough as any team in college football. Iowa’s Karl Klug and Christian Ballard aren’t huge space eaters, but they move splendidly and can create push off of the line.
GT ranks 11th in total offense and 11th in scoring, while the Hawkeyes rank 10th in scoring defense and 11th in total defense. Both teams lost their most recent major bowl games — both, as it happens, at the Orange Bowl. Florida beat the Yellow Jackets in 1967, while USC beat Iowa in 2003.
The match kicks-off at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Orange Bowl along with the Sugar Bowl and the Sun Bowl, are the second-oldest bowl games in the U.S. It has been played annually since 1935.
UPDATE: The Iowa Hawkeyes were underdogs versus Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the FedEx Orange Bowl, but the Hawkeyes won 24-14 at Land Shark Stadium.
