Pacquiao vs Marquez III: Both Camps Promise to Erase Doubts

Their first two bouts may have ended in controversy, but when Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez meet for the third time on Saturday, both fighters will be looking to prove once and for all who the better man is.

Pacquiao vs Marquez III will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 12, 2011, with the Filipino pound-for-pound king defending his WBO welterweight belt against his Mexican nemesis. While both fighters have shown respect for each other, Pacquiao may have been given an extra motivation for Pacquiao vs Marquez III when, in the run up to the fight, Marquez wore a shirt that said “We Were Robbed,” an apparent dig on the decisions in their previous meetings. Marquez believes he won the first two fights and is eager to prove he was right. Pacquiao, however, found the shirt insulting and is using it as motivation to score a clear victory. “This fight is really important to me because there’s that issue, the claims that he won the last two fights, and that’s why I’m very motivated with my training,” the Filipino congressman said.

Despite losing in the second fight and escaping with a controversial draw in the first, Marquez believes that his style will continue to cause problems for Pacquiao. “All boxers have a difficult opponent, and I guess my style is the most difficult for Pacquiao,” Marquez said. Pacquiao, however, said that a lot of things have changed since their second match in 2008. “I’m more experienced, especially in my strategy and techniques. I’m more improved in (throwing) my right hand, my movement side to side, and my timing,” Pacquiao said.
