Patriots trade Richard Seymour to Raiders
New England on Sunday traded Richard Seymour to Oakland in exchange for the Raiders’ 2011 first-round pick, according to the Patriots’ official website.
“As an organization, we feel the trade with Oakland brings sufficient value and is in the long-term interest of the club,” coach Bill Belichick said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful for the huge impact Richard’s elite level of performance had on our success and we wish him the very best during the rest of his career.”
The 29-year-old defensive end has been with New England since entering the league as a first round pick out of Georgia in 2001. Last season, he recorded eight sacks and 52 tackles in 15 games.
