Porn and Gore Flood Facebook

Has Facebook turned into the biggest hub for pornography and violence?

That seems to be true as a flood of pornographic and gory images and videos started to randomly appear on users’ news feeds on Monday, multiple reports said. According to reports, the deluge of porn and gore seems to have been caused by a virus or other related exploits. Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes told Fox that the social network is now investigating the reports. “We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue,” Noyes said. “We are always working to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms. Protecting the people who use Facebook from spam and malicious content is a top priority for us.”

The flood of explicit materials has caused an uproar among Facebook users who were shocked to see porn and gore pop up from their pages. “Facebook, I can handle old person porn but please no more beaten, bloody animals … NOT COOL,” one user Tweeted.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, there is speculation that activist hacker organization Anonymous may be behind the spam attack. In a video that appeared online earlier this year, an alleged Anonymous member threatened to “take down Facebook.”
