Premier League: Arsenal vs. Blackburn Rovers

The Gunners welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Emirates this afternoon as they look to edge back on top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner are back for today’s match but Eduardo has been ruled out with a thigh injury.

Bendtner has recovered from minor injuries after a car crash earlier in the week, while Walcott is ready for his first game of the season following a back problem.

Blackburn captain Ryan Nelsen suffered a back injury in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa while Christopher Samba had to come off injured in the same match. Both face a late fitness check to see if they will be able to play.

Defeats on the road to Sunderland and Everton have left Sam Allardyce’s side pointless on their travels so far this season. And the Rovers are yet to win at the Emirates. Their most recent victory away to the Gunners was at Highbury in 2002.

Game time is 1:30 p.m. BST (8:30 a.m. ET).

UPDATE: Cesc Fabregas produced a virtuoso display as Arsenal thrashed Blackburn 6-2 at the Emirates Stadium. The Spaniard netted once and set up four other goals in the Gunners’ comeback victory.

Thomas Vermaelen, Robin van Persie, Andriy Arshavin, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner also contributed for the win.
