Premier League: Arsenal vs. Everton
Arsenal takes on Everton at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon hoping to continue their amazing run in the Premier League.
These two teams met on the opening day of this season at Goodison Park in August and the Gunners won 6-1. But with Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner both out injured and Theo Walcott also sidelined, don’t expect Arsene Wenger’s side to produce the same results.
The North Londoners would have reduced Chelsea’s lead to just a point if they had been able to play and beat Bolton Wanderers last Wednesday (postponed because of freezing weather), and today they’re hoping to fulfill that.
Meanwhile Wenger dismissed reports that Cesc Fabregas could be on his way to Real Madrid.
“We have a long-term plan to be a winning team— and Cesc is part of that,” the Frenchman said. “We have worked very hard with all of our players, and they all have a very long contract commitment.”
UPDATE: The introduction of MLS loan signing Landon Donovan for his debut gave Everton an extra creative edge, but Tomas Rosicky snatched a crucial point for Arsenal as they drew 2-2 against the Toffees. The Gunners moved within three points of Premier League leaders Chelsea.
