Premier League: Arsenal vs. Manchester City
Arsenal and Manchester City lock horns at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon and both sides are looking to bounce back from painful defeats against Wigan Atletic and Manchester United respectively.
The Gunners are out of contention for the Premier League title after two straight losses, but they are hoping to finish on a high to build confidence for next term. The Citizens’ own Champions League ambitions took a knock last week but, with Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this morning, Roberto Mancini’s men could force themselves back into fourth place by beating Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor has been told to stay cool ahead of his return to the Emirates. The 26-year-old Togolese striker, who left Arsenal in the summer, was recently fined 25,000 pounds by the Football Association and received a three-match ban for violent conduct after stamping on Robin van Persie’s face when the two teams met at Eastlands in September.
The match kicks-off at 17:30 GMT (12:30 p.m. ET).
UPDATE: Manchester City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw which saw the Gunners all but secured third place while the Citizens closed the gap with fourth place rivals Tottenham, who lost to Manchester United earlier in the day.
