Premier League: Chelsea vs. Arsenal
Arsenal will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for Barclay’s Premiere League on Sunday, February 7.
Number 2 Arsenal is hoping to get the top spot back in the Premier League table. The Gunners suffered a devastating 3-1 home defeat to current league leaders Manchester United last week, leaving them in the third spot behind the Blues.
Currently, the Red Devils are holding the top bid with 56 points, Chelsea with 55, and Arsenal with 49.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti might welcome John Obi Mikel back who recently served his duty for Nigeria in African Cup of Nations. Also, captain John Terry will play today despite the media attention he was getting because of an alleged extra-marital affair with lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel, the same issue that cost him the captaincy of the English national football team.
Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand was designated as England’s new captain and Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard as vice-captain.
Even with controversy surrounding Terry, Ancelotti still believes that he is a valuable member and captain for the Chelsea squad.
“He is focusing on his job. He’s doing very well every day, every moment. He’s the captain of this team so, with his behaviour, he’s doing his best for this team.”
Arsenal on the other hand could welcome midfielder Abou Diaby at Stamford Bridge who has not played since middle of January because of a hamstring problem he got from a match against Aston Villa. The Gunners will miss other players such as Johan Djourou, Kieran Gibbs and Croatia striker Eduardo.
UPDATE: Chelsea regained the top spot in the Premier League after beating Arsenal, 2-0.
