Premier League: Chelsea vs. Bolton Wanderers
Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers lock horns at Stamford Bridge tonight and the Premier League leaders can go four points clear of Manchester United with a victory over Owen Coyle’s side.
The Red Devils dropped points at Blackburn while Chelsea celebrated reaching a third FA Cup final in four years by beating Aston Villa 3-0. During that match, Didier Drogba opened the scoring with Florent Malouda and Frank Lampard completing the rout.
The Blues have only lost once at home all season and have posted a amazing 52 goals at the Bridge so they are clear favorites to win this game. Bolton, on the other hand, is not a bad team by any means but we don’t think the Trotters will be able to match the West Londoners’ firepower as they have so many potential scorers.
Coyle and his men have lost their last three EPL matches without scoring while these teams have met twice already this term, with Chelsea winning both.
However, Carlo Ancelotti, the Blues manager said: “Every game we need to do our best because every game will be difficult. Bolton will not be an easy game because they didn’t play on Saturday.”
Ancelotti will rest at least two players this evening. Michael Ballack and Salomon Kalou will start in place of Deco and Joe Cole, while Nicolas Anelka could come in for Drogba.
The match kicks-off at 20:00 BST (3:00 p.m. ET).
UPDATE: Anelka scored in the 43rd minute as the Blues defeated Bolton 1-0 to move four points clear at the top of league.
