Premier League: Chelsea vs. Everton

Premier League leaders Chelsea host Everton this afternoon (15:00 GMT) hoping to put their defeat at Eastlands last Saturday firmly behind them.

Another slip against the Toffees and Chelsea and Manchester United could be back on level terms, with the balance of power shifting towards the Red Devils.

I was quite shocked the West Londoners were defeated by Manchester City but I can’t imagine them not winning against Everton this time. It’s been 9 years since the Toffees recorded a victory over Chelsea and it’s hard to see them bringing an end to that run.

However, David Moyes’ men go into this match on the back of a two-game unbeaten streak, beating AEK Athens before coming from two goals down to earn an admirable 2-2 draw with Tottenham last weekend.

The Blues should have John Terry available but Jose Bosingwa and Salomon Kalou are out. Everton midfielder Tim Cahill is suspended for today’s clash after getting his fifth booking of the season in his side’s encounter with the Spurs, while Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo will be out until the New Year, after coming off after just 15 minutes against Tottenham with a hamstring injury.

UPDATE: Chelsea rounded off a miserable week with a disappointing 3-3 draw to visiting Everton. Didier Drogba scored twice but the Toffees made it four games without a win for the West Londoners when French striker Louis Saha headed in his side’s second equalizer just past the hour.
