Premier League: Chelsea vs. Manchester City
It’s just minutes before Chelsea and Manchester City take the Premier League’s center stage at Stamford Bridge. And when John Terry and Wayne Bridge meet on the pitch, all eyes will be on the pre-game handshake. It is widely expected that Wayne will refuse to shake the former England captain’s hand when the pair line-up this afternoon.
The two come face to face for the first time since it was revealed Terry had an affair with Bridge’s former partner Vanessa Perroncel, the mother of his son.
City boss Roberto Mancini refused to comment on whether the former friends would shake hands and urged the 29-year-old left back to focus on the game which comes just two days after withdrawing from England’s World Cup plans.
The Blues go into the match one point ahead of Manchester United, with a game in hand, while the Citizens are embroiled in a desperate four-way battle for fourth.
UPDATE: Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand, and the Citizens produced a stunning away performance to beat Chelsea 4-2. It was the Blues’ first home defeat in the EPL all season.
