Premier League: Chelsea vs. Stoke City
Chelsea will try to maintain their perfect start to the season when they face Stoke City this afternoon. The Blues’ four consecutive victories represent their best start since 2005 – when they won 9 straight.
The Potters on the other hand have won both of their matches at their home field and are yet to concede a goal at Britannia Stadium.
But whatever the outcome of today’s match, the issue that will dominate matters at Stamford Bridge for the coming weeks is the potential impact of the FIFA-imposed transfer ban on Chelsea.
The Blues have been banned from making any new signings until January 2011 having been found guilty by the sport’s governing body of inducing French midfielder Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with RC Lens two years ago.
Game time is 3 pm (10 am ET).
UPDATE: Florent Malouda scored an injury-time winner as the Blues battled back from a goal down to beat Stoke City 2-1. Abdoulaye Faye gave the Potters an early lead but Didier Drogba struck into the top corner just before the break to equalize.
