Premier League: Liverpool vs. Bolton
Liverpool could move into fourth place of the Premier League if they win against Bolton this afternoon (15:00 UK).
It’s been a disappointing season for both these clubs. However, the Reds are unbeaten in their last five matches, keeping four clean sheets in that spell while conceding just a goal.
The Trotters have also improved under new boss Owen Coyle, pushing Arsenal close on a couple of occasions before defeating Burnley 1-0 in midweek.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is expected to start in this match after returning from a hamstring problem in last week’s goalless draw against Wolves. Unfortunately, Fernando Torres, Glen Johnson, Yossi Benayoun and Fabio Aurelio, are still out.
Meanwhile Arsenal skipper Jack Wilshere has joined the Trotters on a loan deal until the end of the season and he has been included in the squad for this afternoon’s game at Anfield.
“Jack is a talented, young, hungry player who I think has got a bright future ahead of him,” Bolton manager Owen Coyle told the club’s official website. “He has got an abundance of quality and he will enhance our squad.”
Wilshere became the youngest player ever to represent the Gunners when he took to the field against Blackburn in 2008, aged just 16 years and 256 days.
UPDATE: The Reds defeated Bolton 2-0 to improve their unbeaten EPL run to six games and close the gap on Tottenham in the race for a top four finish.
