Premier League: Liverpool vs. Burnley
Liverpool will once again be under the spotlight when they face Burnley today at Anfield.
The Reds have started the season with two wins and two losses and just earned 6 points from their first four games. However, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is insistent that his side can still claim the Premier League crown.
In a recent interview he said: “We have to think about one game at a time, try to get three points and then see what our position is each week.”
Benitez is now hopeful that Alberto Aquilani, a £20million replacement for Xabi Alonso, will soon join his new team-mates in training.
Meanwhile Liverpool expect to have Fabio Aurelio back in their squad for the first time this season against the newly promoted Clarets. The Brazilian defender has recovered from a knee surgery and should at least be on the bench.
The match kicks-off at 3 pm (10 am ET).
UPDATE: The Reds comfortably demolished newcomers Burnley 4-0. Yossi Benayoun broke the deadlock with an amazing finish before adding his team’s third goal after Dirk Kuyt had made it 2-0 shortly before half time. Andriy Voronin played him in for his third and Liverpool’s fourth near the end.
