Premier League: Liverpool vs. Manchester United

Kick-off: Sunday October 25, 2009 14:00 (10 am ET).

The Reds will be on the spotlight this afternoon as they host Manchester United in one of the most highly anticipated games of the Premier League season.

Liverpool‘s form so far has been less than they would expect and they have already fallen behind their fierce rivals. However, Rafa Benitez is hoping for a repeat performance of the two games last season during which his side thumped the Red Devils.

Another defeat is almost unthinkable, so Benitez has insisted this is the perfect game for his side to bounce back. It couldn’t get much worse than United subjecting the Reds to a fifth consecutive defeat for the first time in 56 years.

Benitez’s strategy has been openly questioned this week, although Javier Mascherano has made it clear that the fault lies with the players, not the manager.

UPDATE: Fernando Torres scored on his return from injury as the Reds beat Manchester United 2-0 to end their four-game losing streak.
