Premier League: Liverpool vs. Sunderland

The Reds should be the heavy favorites to win this match. Despite their three losses, the team is playing pretty good. And the Black Cats’ Premier League record against Liverpool is not great; they’ve won just once in 16 matches.

But Rafa Benitez’s side will be without its star players— Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard— who both picked up groin injuries while with England and Spain respectively.

The Reds usually struggle when either Torres or Gerrard are missing. And to have them both unavailable for today’s game will be a huge test for the Spanish tactician.

Meanwhile Sunderland has signed former Chelsea and Barca midfielder Boudewijn Zenden on a free transfer and Steve Bruce hopes to use him against Liverpool this afternoon.

The match kicks-off at 3:00 p.m. BST (10:00 a.m. ET).

UPDATE: Darren Bent scored a freakish winning goal against Liverpool, in which a shot deflected into the net off a beach ball thrown onto the pitch by a fan.
