Premier League: Manchester City vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton Wanderers face a second tough assignment in three days as they host Manchester City tonight (19:45 GMT).
Second-half goals from Steven Gerrard and Yossi Benayoun gave Liverpool a 2-0 Boxing Day victory over 10-man Wolves, which left the Molineux club with three wins and two defeats from their last five Premier League matches.
But having won their last two games in front of their own fans at home, optimism of a positive result will be reasonably high for Mick McCarthy’s side. Furthermore, the Citizens were the first team that they defeated in the EPL.
Wins against Bolton, Tottenham and Burnley has kept Wolves out of the relegation zone, but they are expected to find life tough nest year as they aim to preserve their status following last season’s Championship winning campaign.
Meanwhile Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists he has no problem with Craig Bellamy. The 30-year-old Welsh striker was disappointed with City’s decision to terminate Mark Hughes last Saturday, and he started Mancini’s first game in charge on the bench against the Potters.
UPDATE: Carlos Tevez scored twice while Javier Garrido notched an amazing free-kick as Manchester City defeated Wolverhampton 3-0. It was the Citizens’ first away win in four months – and their second in three days under new boss Roberto Mancini.
