Premier League: Manchester United vs. Aston Villa
Manchester United will try to maintain their dominance in the Premier League as they take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford this afternoon (17:30 GMT).
The Red Devils have not been defeated by the Villains in the last 24 games between the two in all competitions and a victory against Martin O’Neill’s side would keep them on top of the EPL table should Chelsea lose to Everton.
However, there’s some sort of crisis at Old Trafford. Paul Scholes is suspended and several others are injured. Wayne Rooney, Wes Brown, Nemanja Vidic, Fabio and Dimitar Berbatov could be available but Gary Neville, John O’Shea, Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves are out.
Can Villa take advantage of United’s injuries or will Sir Alex Ferguson’s men show how strong they are?
Despite Manchester’s ongoing injury problems, O’Neill insisted his squad would be far from over-confident for their trip to the champions. He also has no fresh injury worries as the Villains look to prevail at Old Trafford for the first time in 26 years.
Defender James Collins is back in training after three weeks out with thigh and groin injuries and could play some part.
UPDATE: Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the only goal as Aston Villa beat Manchester United 1-0 and moved up to third place in the Premier League.
