Premier League: Manchester United vs. Burnley FC
Burnley FC takes on Manchester United tonight in the first official Premiership fixture of the season at Turf Moor. The newly-promoted Clarets will be aiming for their first point(s) in the league, following their loss at the hands of the Potters last weekend.
The Reds go into their second match of the season, still without the injured Rio Ferdinand while Jonny Evans will also be out following a recurrence of an ankle injury in Sunday’s game against Birmingham. Nemanja Vidic, Gary Neville and Rafael are also missing.
United is unbeaten in its last 17 games against Burnley, with clean sheets kept in the last four meetings between the two clubs.
The Clarets have been outside the top league for 33 years, and they are hopeful that the potentially unfamiliar conditions to ace players at Turf Moor could work in their favor.
Game time is 7:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. ET).
UPDATE: A spectacular goal from Robbie Blake in the 19th minute handed Burnley a 1-0 victory against the Red Devils at Turf Moor.
