Premier League: Manchester United vs. Hull City

Manchester United will be hoping to catch up with Premier League leaders Chelsea with a win over Hull City at KC Stadium this afternoon.

The Red Devils’ defense has been hit by injuries in recent weeks but Sir Alex Ferguson could have Nemanja Vidic back along with Rafael. However, United are still without Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Edwin Van der Sar, Macheda and Nani.

Ferguson said: “There are some tough matches coming up in quick succession and we need a full squad to cope with it but I am not sure everyone will be available. This is a big test for the squad.”

United were thumped 3-0 at Fulham last time out, but despite the heavy loss, the champions are still just four points behind Chelsea after the West Londoners could only draw 1-1 with West Ham last weekend.

The match kicks-off at 16:00 GMT.

UPDATE: The Red Devils moved to within two points of EPL leaders Chelsea as Wayne Rooney inspired a 3-1 win over Hull City. The 24-year-old striker scored the opening goal and also created both his team’s others in an inspired display.
