Premier League: Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Second placed Manchester United could regain the top spot in the Premier League, for 24 hours at least, if they beat Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford this afternoon.
The Red Devils will head into their meeting with Harry Redknapp’s side buoyed by a commanding recent record against the North Londoners. Tottenham has not won at United in the EPL in 17 attempts.
The Spurs are currently seven points behind Arsenal and are chasing fourth spot and Champions League qualification. They have beaten the Gunners and Chelsea in their last two home games to throw the title race wide open.
Perhaps one major piece of good news for Redknapp is the return of Aaron Lennon to the team. The 23-year-old right winger has yet to play in 2010 due to a groin problem but has now recovered to be available for today’s match.
Meanwhile, all eyes are sure to be on Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov against his former club. A goal will definitely go a long way towards winning him a place in the hearts of the unimpressed United fans.
The game starts at 12:45 GMT.
UPDATE: The Red Devils returned to the top of the EPL with a 3-1 victory over the Spurs but the defending champions’ title hopes suffered a blow with the news that Wayne Rooney may miss the rest of the season because of injury.
