Premier League: Portsmouth vs. Arsenal

Portsmouth is at the bottom of the Premier League table, but Avram Grant’s men defeated Liverpool in their last home game, so their opponents should be serious about them.

Pompey are four points off their nearest rivals Hull City, and a victory tonight would leave them within touching distance of safety.

Jamie O’Hara serves a one-match ban, while Nwankwo Kanu has been cleared to face his former club before heading off to the African Cup of Nations. The tournament in Angola will also deprive Portsmouth of Nadir Belhadj, Hassan Yebda, Aruna Dindane.

Meanwhile Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is a major doubt for tonight’s match. The 22-year-old midfielder came off the bench and bagged a brace as the Gunners defeated Aston Villa 3-0 last weekend. But he re-injured the hamstring that saw him left out in the first place and is not expected to be risked against the Hampshire-based club.

If Arsenal can secure three points at Fratton Park this evening and then win their upcoming game against Bolton next week, they will have closed the gap on Chelsea to a solitary point.

The match kicks-off at 19:45 GMT.

UPDATE: Goals from Eduardo, Samir Nasir, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song gave Arsenal a 4-1 victory over bottom placed Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
