Q & A Feature Soon on Facebook

In the mode of Yahoo Answers and Wiki Answers, Facebook will also come out with its own Q&A feature.

This application is also seen to be competing with Mahalo, which is owned by popular Facebook-quitter Jason Calacanis, and with Quora, which was developed last year by former Facebook employees.

Facebook has already set up a page announcing this new application. On the said page, Facebook announces: “We think it will be as exciting as Facebook Photos and Facebook Events, but we need your help to make it great… You’ll be the first person outside of Facebook to use this product.”

Those interested to beta-test the application can do so on the page where subscribers can first submit and answer three questions. These beta-test questions are said to give this new feature a good running start in terms of content.

On this page, beta testers are asked to “ask great questions and provide great answers about your favorite topics.”

The beta test is likewise intended to ensure informed and detailed answers, requiring beta-testers to cite references. The application will also prohibit plagiarism.
