Red Bull’s Vettel, Webber Top European GP Qualifying
Red Bull continued their domination of the F1 qualifying as Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber posted the fastest times on Saturday at the Valencia Street Circuit in Spain. Vettel will be on pole on Sunday’s race with Webber just behind him.
On row two are former champions Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Renault’s Robert Kubica were fifth and sixth, respectively. Defending champion Jenson Button will start on row four after finishing the qualifying runs with the seventh fastest time.
Vettel is hard pressed to win the race as he is now only fifth in the drivers championship with 90 points. He won in Malaysia back in April but has not had the same success in the past five races. Webber, on the other hand, is looking to top the podium again after back-to-back wins in the Spanish and Monaco GPs last month.
Hamilton, though, would be a marked man as the British driver has won the last two races to move up in the standings with 109 points, three points up on defending champion Button.
