Report: Manny Pacquiao to Fight Shane Mosley Next
Sorry guys, it appears that the fight everyone is waiting to happen—Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.—will have to wait.
According to CNN, citing a Twitter post, Pacquiao has picked “Sugar” Shane Mosley as his next opponent. “Just excited about the fight with Pac. I know you’re going to be there,” Mosley reportedly told Lennox Lewis in one of their tweet exchanges. Although the deal has yet to be finalized, Mosley said that it is “pretty much a go.” If indeed the Pacquiao-Mosley fight pushes through in May as planned, it would mean that a match between the Filipino eight-division champion and the unbeaten Mayweather may not happen next year, if at all.
Pacquiao is fresh from a 12-round annihilation of Antonio Margarito in a fight that gave the Filipino his record eighth world title in as many divisions. Mosley, on the other hand, has been on a decline since beating Margarito in January last year. Mosley lost to Mayweather in May then settled for a split draw against Sergio Mora in September.
