Reports: Chris Evans Offered Captain America
The Human Torch could soon become Captain America. Reports said Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch in two “Fantastic Four” movies, has been offered a three-film deal to play Steve Rogers and his alter ego Captain America.
Both Marvel and Evans have yet to comment on the development. Evans came into the Captain America derby late, but Marvel people appear to have been convinced by the 28-year-old actor, whose film credits include 2001’s “Not Another Teen Movie” and 2008’s “Street Kings.” Several people including Michael Cassidy, Patrick Flueger, Scott Porter, and John Krasinski among others were also considered for the Captain America part before Evans came on board.
Although Evans is close to bagging the lucrative offer, The Hollywood Reporter said the actor may have trouble saying yes to Marvel due to a conflict in schedule. Evans has already committed to start filming a romantic comedy with Anna Faris at the same time that the first Captain America movie is scheduled to begin shooting.
