Reports: Freida Pinto is Next Bond Girl
Freida Pinto of “Slumdog Millionaire” fame has been picked to become the new bond girl, reports said. According to the Daily Mirror, the 25-year-old Pinto has been offered around $4.5 million to play Daniel Craig’s new flame in the 23rd installment of the James Bond franchise.
Sam Mendes, who recently split from wife Kate Winslet, will direct the latest bond film. Sources say Mendes will reinvent the James Bond genre, adding that the new 007 film is the “most ambitious” yet.
Pinto, who is expected to have several love scenes with Craig, was reportedly excited but at the same nervous about playing one of the most coveted roles in all of Hollywood.
Meanwhile, American actress Olivia Wilde of the T.V. series “House” will play the other female lead role, which will be a double-crossing U.N. worker in Afghanistan. The film, whose script is penned by Peter Morgan, is set in Afghanistan. Filming is scheduled to begin in the summer, with some scenes to be shot on location in Kabul, Afghanistan.
