Reports: Knicks Closing in on McGrady Deal

Tracy McGrady might be wearing a New York Knicks jersey in the second half of the NBA season. Reports said talks are on going between the Knicks and the Houston Rockets. If everything works out before trade deadline, Houston will release McGrady, along with Joey Dorsey and Brian Cook, for Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill, and either Larry Hughes or Al Harrington of the Knicks.

McGrady, who has not fitted well in the current Rockets rotation, is reportedly keen about playing for New York. The Knicks are trying to get rid of Jeffries and his $ 6.9 million price tag that is due for next season in order to get some salary cap room and be a major player on the free agency market this summer.

The Knicks might consider re-signing T-Mac next season if he shows that he can still deliver the goods for the rest of the season. McGrady’s $ 23 million contract with Houston will expire this year.
