Richard Hatch denied request to join Samoa Survivor Reunion

Richard Hatch, the first ever winner of the U.S. reality TV show “Survivor“, has been denied by a court to travel to Samoa to take part in the 10th anniversary special of the program.

Hatch is currently under house arrest in Newport, Rhode Island for tax evasion charges, stemming from his failure to declare his US$1 million Survivor prize which he won back in 2000. He has already completed three years of his 51-month sentence in federal prison.

Hatch has declared that he would use any winnings he amasses from the trip to help pay his dues. But the US District Court in Rhode Island has declined his request, barring Hatch from flying to Samoa for the seven-week tenure required by the program.
