Robert De Niro to play Bernard Madoff in new film
He’s played Vito Corleone, Al Capone, and Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein. Soon, Robert De Niro will take on another larger-than-life criminal: Bernard Madoff. The 68-year-old actor will play the infamous swindler, who bilked thousands of investors with his $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO have bought Laurie Sandell’s “Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family” which was written with the co-operation of Bernie’s family members.
De Niro will also produce the biopic with his partner Jane Rosenthall from his production outfit Tribeca Productions. The upcoming film will also be based on Diane Henrique’s “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust.”
