Rosie O’Donnell Goes Back to Daytime
Rosie O’Donnell is planning to make a comeback in daytime television. The comeback is scheduled to take place at exactly the time when Oprah Winfrey would be airing her final episodes.
O’Donnell previously hosted the Rosie O’Donnell show which run from 1996-2002 and won several Daytime Emmy Awards including a five year consecutive winning streak as Best Talk Show. She also became a moderator in The View from September 2006 until May 2007.
The new show will be produced by an independent company that will be formed by O’Donnell alongside Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin.
In a conversation with columnist Cindy Adams recently, the host said that, “I gotta get back on TV … and it’ll be on Oprah’s time slot.”
The announcement is being thought by many as a takeover of Oprah’s crown. However, ABC has already announced that some of its top stations are replacing Oprah with local news programs.
Meanwhile, NBC has renewed the contract for Ellen DeGeneres to keep her talk show until 2014.
