California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s private jet had to take an emergency landing in Los Angeles last Friday, when the pilot reported seeing smoke coming from some of the cockpit’s controls, reports have said.

Schwarzenegger was en route to Santa Monica, near the former actor’s hometown, when the reports of smoke forced the plane to veer off towards Van Nuys airport. Ground crew was informed, and the fire brigade was already waiting for them when they landed.

After the emergency landing, Schwarzenegger then traveled to his hometown.

“The NetJets crew did an outstanding job and everyone aboard landed safely and unharmed,” spokesman Aaron McLear said of the ordeal.
