2010 World Cup Qualifier: Scotland vs. Norway

Tonight, the Scots will attempt to bolster their second spot in Group Nine as they face Norway in a 2010 World Cup Qualifier.

The Norwegians are at the bottom of the group, and their hopes of reaching South Africa will be extinguished should Scotland win.

Norway Captain and Fulham defender Brede Hangeland recently told reporters: “This is an important qualifier. I will give everything, even if the Premier League starts a few days later.”

Holland is already qualified for South Africa while Iceland has already been eliminated.

Darren Fletcher will captain his country again in the absence of the injured Stephen McManus. According to the Manchester United star, they must use the ball to their advantage and fight hard against the flexibility of the Norwegians.

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown is expected to partner Fletcher in the heart of the Scottish midfield. Heerenveen’s Christian Grindheim is unlikely to pose a goal threat but he will guarantee a tough night’s work for Scotland’s dynamic duo.

The match kicks-off at 7:00 p.m. CET (1:00 p.m. ET) at Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium.
