Serie A: AC Milan vs. Udinese
Italian giants AC Milan welcome Udinese to the San Siro hoping to defeat them for the first time in three attempts since last term.
The Rossoneri sit 11 points behind leaders Inter and they will be desperate to return to winning ways after claiming just two points from their last three games. They badly need a win to cut the gap to eight points and give themselves some hope of pushing Jose Mourinho’s side down the straight.
“This is the most important month of Milan’s season,” coach Leonardo Araujo told the press. “There is no time to change, we have to stay tranquil, but not lose the anger, pride and will we have inside.”
A victory would also boost their morale ahead of the Champions League encounter with Manchester United on Tuesday.
Udinese meanwhile goes into the match having beaten Napoli 3-1 and boasts Serie A’s leading scorer in Antonio Di Natale, who has netted 16 goals so far this season, including a hat-trick last Sunday. That victory lifted Gianni De Biasi’s side to 15th in the table with 24 points from 22 matches.
Meanwhile Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato has been passed fit for tonight’s game. The 20-year-old striker has not played this year after a thigh injury and Leonardo has frequently given his place on the right of his front three to David Beckham.
The match kicks-off at 20:45 CET (2:45 p.m. ET).
UPDATE: Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar netted a brace and Pato scored a goal on his comeback to beat Udinese 3-2.
