Shaq announces NBA retirement on Tout [VIDEO]
Boston Celtics big man Shaquille O’Neal announced his retirement from the NBA on Wednesday after 19 years of playing in the league. Shaq, 39, posted a short video on Tout.com, and also put a link to the video on his Twitter account.
“We did it. 19 years, baby,” the 2000 Most Valuable Player said in the video. “I want to thank you very much, and that’s why I’m telling you first. I’m about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon.”
Shaq, who has been struggling with an Achilles injury, scored more than 28,000 points in the NBA and was 12th overall in rebounds and seventh in blocked shots. He appeared in six NBA finals, three times as the MVP, and was a member of the team USA that won the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
We will miss you, Shaq… especially your off court antics.
