Shoichi Nakagawa, the former Japanese finance minister who resigned from his post after appearing drunk on TV earlier this year, has been found dead.

His body was discovered in the bedroom of his Tokyo home on Sunday, according to news reports.

The cause of Nakagawa’s death is still being investigated. No external injuries were found on his body and a will has not been located, the police said.

Nakagawa, 56, caused a stir when he appeared to be intoxicated at a news conference during a meeting of G7 financial leaders in Rome in February.

However, Nakagawa denied he was drunk and blamed cough medicine for his odd behavior.

It was quite easy to see at the beginning of the year that he was on a path to self destruction. Many assume those at the top are immortal however they are just the same as the rest of us.
