Shrek Final Chapter to Premiere at Tribeca Film Fest

Dreamworks has chosen the Tribeca Film Festival as the launching pad for the fourth and final chapter of the adventures of the world’s most popular ogre, Shrek. The movie “Shrek Forever After” will kick off the festival on April 21. Shrek will be shown on 3D for the first time and director Mike Mitchell believes the technological enhancement that was infused into the animated film will allow moviegoers to see the kingdom of Far Far Away in a completely different perspective.

Shrek Forever After would be the latest to try the 3D market following the success of James Cameron‘s Avatar late last year. Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal said having Shrek open the two-week event follows the tradition that Tribeca has always try to uphold. “We have always sought to open our Festival with films that are captivating and strike an emotional chord with moviegoers,” she said.

Mike Myers will again reprise his role as the lovable ogre Shrek, while Cameron Diaz will return as Princess Fiona. Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas are also coming back to play Shrek’s loyal sidekicks, Donkey and Puss in Boots, respectively.
