Snake with foot discovered in China

A woman has discovered a 16-inch-long snake with a claw-like foot growing out of its belly, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Unfortunately, Duan Qiongxiu of Suining, China, killed the creature (see picture) before it could be captured. However, she kept its body preserved in a bottle of alcohol and is now being studied by scientists at West Normal University in Nanchang.

It turned out the 66-year-old had found an incredibly rare mutation. Snakes have been known to mutate, but it’s actually more common for them to have two heads than feet.
