Special Ramadan for 2400 Iraqi detainees

As a sign of good faith towards peaceful Iraqis detained in prison camps, the US military released about 2404 detainees citing that the released detainees no longer posed any threat to the US and fellow Iraqis.

Although the 2400 are still 600 short of the expected releases the US is supposed to make during the Ramadan weeks.

The releases were quite speedy because almost 1,000 were freed in one week compared to the first three weeks of Ramadan where about 1,500 detainees where freed.

Detainees are currently being held in Camp Cropper near Baghdad airport and Camp Bucca near the southern city of Basr.

There re still about 17,900 detainees in both camps.
