Spurs Manager Confident of Beckham’s Premier League Return
David Beckham could be back in the Premier League as early as Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp said on Friday.
Redknapp said “there is a good chance” that Beckham’s U.S. Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy and the Spurs could reach an agreement on the former England captain’s return to the Premier League in time for Tottenham’s FA Cup match against Charlton over the weekend. Redknapp revealed that negotiations have been going on for weeks on a two-month loan for the 35-year-old former Manchester United star. “I think he could be here on Sunday possibly if what I’m being told on the grapevine is right,” Redknapp said.
If things go as planned, Beckham’s official Premier League return could end up coinciding with the Spurs’ match against the Red Devils next weekend. Although there are some doubts on whether Beckham could contribute to the Spurs’ cause, Redknapp believes that the star midfielder will be an asset to his team. “He would lift the level of the other players, people would respond to playing with him and having him around and he would be a good influence around the place. He could be a massive player for us.”
