Stephen Gately: Died of Natural Causes
A court official in Majorca, Spain announced that a post-mortem examination shows that Boyzone’s Stephen Gately died of natural causes.
His body, which was found at his apartment in Majorca on Saturday, October 10, reveals that he died from natural causes, “suffered a pulmonary oedema, an accumulation of fluid on the lungs“. The autopsy carried out this morning showed there was no foul play involved and no signs of violence. A Spanish judge has now authorized Gately’s civil partner Andrew Cowles and his family to take the 33-year-old’s body back to his native Ireland.
His band mates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch flew out to Majorca upon hearing the news but have now returned to the UK.
The boys have shared their feelings of loss in a joint statement posted on the band’s website. http://www.boyzone.net/
A spokesperson for the band said: “All of them are home now. They went there to pay their respects and start dealing with the fallout of the situation.
“However, it’s clear that them being there at the moment is bringing a lot more attention to the situation.”
