Steve Jobs unveils new Apple ‘spaceship’ HQ [VIDEO]
Steve Jobs is planning to build new Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California that looks a little like a spaceship. The new building, which could accommodate around 12,000 employees, is to be erected a few blocks from the Apple’s current nerve center, on land the company purchased from HP last November.
Apple wants to re-landscape the area to include some 6000 trees, and the new facility will have features such as an energy center, massive auditorium, huge cafeterias and a fitness center. But will it actually happen? Definitely. Apple’s profits have more than quadrupled since the 2007 introduction of the iPhone, and city officials appeared enthusiastic about the planned construction. The company wants to break ground next year and move in by 2015.
Here’s a video of Jobs’ presentation to the Cupertino City Council.
