‘Survivor’ castaway Jennifer Lyon dies of cancer
Jennifer Lyon, a finalist on Survivor: Palau, died Tuesday at home in Oregon after her five-year battle with breast cancer. She was 37.
The reality TV star was first diagnosed with the disease in 2005, a few months after the show wrapped. She was a former nanny and placed fourth on the CBS contest.
According to a report from Usmagazine.com, she underwent a double mastectomy and chemotherapy treatment in an attempt to fight the cancer.
Jenn, who had become an advocate for other women struggling with the illness, had a message for fans on her website: “Thank you so much to everyone for sending their encouragement and prayers. It means so much to me and every single one is appreciated. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
