Susan Boyle Album Zooms to Number One on UK Charts
Susan Boyle‘s album I Dreamed a Dream went straight to the number one spot while breaking UK charts records along the way.
The Scottish phenomenal singer sold more than 410,000 copies – now the biggest first week sales for a debut album surpassing the two-year old record of Leona Lewis‘ debut album Spirit which sold 375,872 units. She also broke the record of fastest selling album of the year previously set by boyband JLS at 230,000 copies just early this month. The album reached platinum certification.
Lewis won the third season of The X Factor while Boyle was runner-up in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.
I Dreamed a Dream sold more units than all of the rest of the top five combined. The artists of those albums include Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and JLS.
Simon Cowell, producer of the album, was extremely proud of Boyle. The American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent judge said further, “She did it her way and made a dream come true.”
Asked on what she is feeling right now for finally achieving her dream and regarding the sales of her album, the singer simply said, “It’s fantastic.”
