Suspect arrested in Hudson slayings

Chicago Police have arrested William Balfour, a suspect in the shooting deaths of Jennifer Hudson‘s mother and brother.

As detectives were interrogating the man suspected in the slayings, a search was under way for the Academy Award-winning actress‘ 7-year-old nephew Julian, who had been missing since the killings were discovered.

Balfour is also Julian’s step-father.

Darnelle Donerson and Jason Hudson were gunned down in a home on the South Side of Chicago on Friday in what can only be described as a nightmare come to life.

Darnell was shot in the head and Jason was shot in the chest, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police told CNN that the bodies were discovered at about 3 p.m. Friday, when a relative found Donerson shot to death on the living room floor of her home. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the brother’s dead body in a bedroom.

Jennifer Hudson is a 2004 American Idol Finalist most famous for her role in the 2006 film Dreamgirls for which she won both a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
