T.I., Wife Arrested
T.I. and his wife, Tamika “Tiny” Harris, were arrested on Wednesday night after police smelled suspected marijuana wafting from the couple’s car during a traffic stop in West Hollywood.
The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and his 36-year-old singer wife were brought to the West Hollywood sheriff’s station. Los Angeles deputy sheriff Mark Pope said in an interview with the Associated Press that T.I. and Tiny, a former member of the group Xscape, were booked for possession of a controlled substance, although it is still not clear what type of drug the couple were in possession of when they were arrested.
The arrest and the subsequent charges, if they prosper, could be detrimental for the Grammy winning rapper, as he has recently been preaching against drugs and guns following his release from a seven-month jail term on weapons charges. He was released in March and was put on a three-year probation.
In a July interview, T.I., 29, said he was looking forward to leading a positive life after his recent problems. “Right now, it’s all about moving forward and just acknowledging the blessings that are here today. … Just moving past the regrets of yesterday,” he said.
