Now country music singers Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery will square off in the season 10 finale next week – the youngest matchup in the history of the Fox talent competition.

The 23-year-old gospel singer from Compton, California received the fewest number of votes after he performed the songs “No Air” and “Love Hurts” this week.

After being saved by the judges five weeks ago, the full-bearded singer/musician from Idyllwild, California was voted off the Fox talent competition despite impressing the panel with his voice during the show’s Carole King week.

The 26-year-old contestant from Nashville, Tennessee was really comfortable up there with his raspy voice, but it was his big smile that won judge Jennifer Lopez over.
