Adam Lambert and Kris Allen had their final showdown Tuesday night (May 19) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. For his first song, Adam revisited “Mad World” by Tears For Fears, a song he sang during the earlier stage of the competition.

After Wednesday’s show, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert flipped a coin to decide position in next week’s much-anticipated sing-off. Kris won the toss — and Adam will sing first.

There’s just one week until the “Idol” finale, and on Tuesday night, the three remaining finalists competed for two spots in next week’s much-anticipated sing-off.

It was really a bad fit for Kris. He should have picked something that best suits his voice.

There was no saving Matt Giraud this time. After a nationwide vote, the 23-year-old piano player from Kalamazoo, Michigan became the ninth finalist eliminated on American Idol. Kris Allen and Adam Lambert joined Matt in the bottom three.

American Idol’s five finalists are singing songs made famous by the original kings of cool– Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop—collectively known as the Rat Pack. Kris Allen sings “The Way You Look Tonight”. Great pick. Surprise mentor Jamie Foxx says he’d do a record with him right now.

Kris Allen brought the house down with his acoustic version of “She Works Hard for the Money.” It was Donna Summer by way of Jason Mraz! The arrangement was awesome and he has really matured as an artist.

Accompanied by the string section, Kris Allen sang Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s “Falling Slowly” from the 2007 film “Once.”

Kris Allen captured his female fans with his rendition of “All She Wants to Do Is Dance” by Don Henley. Surrounded by groupies, Kris gave the song a jazzy twist, but unfortunately, the judges didn’t like the heartthrob’s cover.

Dressed like a drag queen from another planet, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter played the piano filled with pink bubbles before going nuts on stage. Her performance was dynamic… but unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy her spectacle…not my kind of music.
