Taiwan’s World Games Stadium is 100% solar-powered

Taiwan’s new stadium is extremely amazing. Aside from its magnificent architecture, it’s also 100% solar powered!

The 50,000 seat arena is covered in 8,844 solar panels that will provide lighting for the track and field with 3,300 lux.

The structure is semi spiral-shaped—like a dragon. Many Chinese people often proclaim themselves “Descendents of the Dragon”.  And dragons are referred to as the divine mythical creature that brings with it ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune.

According to Wikipedia, the World Games Stadium is “the first stadium in the world to provide power using solar energy technology.” The project will officially open later this year to welcome the 2009 World Games.
